Bay Head is a Borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 1,238. Bay Head is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, narrow barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Mantoloking to south, Bay Head is considered part of the Jersey Shore's "Gold Coast". The main roadway through Bay Head is Route 35, a two-lane highway that connects many of the Jersey Shore's small communities. Today, swimming, surfing, fishing, and the general enjoyment of the natural, uncrowded, lifeguarded beaches make Bay Head a favorite for those who like a quiet time. A small daily beach entrance fee is required during summer months. To stay in Bay Head is a delight.
