Lawrence. Pond Fishing Report
Cape Cod Wind Tunnel
Sam and I met up at the usual time (5am) and headed to the Cape for some smallie action. We went to Lawrence pond. We went last year in the fall and wanted to see what it was like in the spring. There's not much structure here except a couple of points so that's what we concentrated on. Sam started it off with the biggest smallie of the day (we didn't weigh anything) on a jerk bait. Ghost minnow I believe. He caught all of his fish on jerkbaits actually. I kept the tradition of catching largemouth instead of smallmouth alive by bagging a Larry on a dt20. I was fishing it on 15# test. I was getting it around 15-16 ft deep. This fish was in 13 ft and was close to 4 pounds. (The pic doesn't do him justice). I got all of my fish on crankbaits. The dt20, a sebile blue/orange craw (8-10ft) and a live target chartreuse deep diving craw. My first smallie crushed the dt20. I made my cast, cranked it down hard and stopped right when I hit the bottom. She must have been following it cuz she crushed it right when I stopped. That was pretty much the exciting part. The wind picked up to a steady gale and we picked up fish here and there. Our final determination? PAVE IT.

The water seemed up. I don't know it well enough but I'd guess yes. That's the only part of the pond we didn't fish. There's shoreline brush down in the opposite end that had good water. We spent a little time tossing a jig in there with no results but not much time. I wanted smallies

Was the water up? Were there any LM in the shoreline wood on the upper left hand shoreline looking at the lake from the ramp?

yeah rich, any trailer bigger than shawn's won't work. don't even think of putting a full bass rig in there. any trailer on that soft sandy hill of a ramp is bad news. maybe we're missing something but it hasn't been a numbers place. pave it.

I went there once and it was fun fishing but trying to get my jon boat out on the trailer was a chore. Like you said... not worth it.

no problems only b/c you absolutely gunned it and didn't care that the trailer and boat bounced all over the place. honestly, i wouldn't recommend the place. yes, there are some decent smallies but it's not worth the hassle and lack of numbers.

I didn't Rich but I can't see anyone pulling a full size boat out of there. For those that don't know, the access is a steep sandy hill. Pretty crappy with little parking. Dont waste your time here
