2020 Trout Stamp buyers important regulatory changes to New Jersey’s Trout Regulations. Trout stocked waters are open to fishing, for catch and release only for trout, from April 1 through April 10. Established season, size, and creel limits for all other species in these waters still apply. Gear restrictions on special regulation areas also remain in place. All waters will temporarily close to fishing again at 12:01 a.m. on April 11 and reopen at 8 am. At that time trout can be harvested within established regulations, including a creel limit of six trout per day where allowed. Please also be advised that in-season closures on 14 designated waters (page 20 of the Freshwater Digest) have also been lifted and after April 11, anglers may fish these waters at any time during the day, on any day of the week for the remainder of the season. Anglers are reminded that it is imperative to practice safe social distancing AT ALL TIMES while fishing.
