NJOA CF supported "Fishing Buddy License" and "Hunter Apprentice License" signed by Governor Christie!
NJOA CF is pleased to announce that on August 10th the freshwater fishing bill and hunter apprentice license bill advanced by NJOA CF members were signed by Governor Christie.
According to Anthony Mauro, Chair, NJOA, "These two bills, which are now law, are important in the effort to recruit anglers and hunters. The state of New Jersey needs sportsmen and women to assist in the management of game populations as a means to ensure both habitat and environmental health. Hunters and freshwater anglers largely fund the state's conservation programs, which rely heavily on license sales."
Mauro continued, "In particular, the hunting apprentice license will enlist people of all ages into an activity that New Jersey residents depend on for the management of deer and black bear populations. Prolific deer populations have added to deer/vehicle collisions and forest destruction. Deer are also carriers of ticks, which can transmit various diseases. The population of black bears continues to expand and management is needed to ensure both public safety and a balanced distribution of bears throughout the state."
