May 22,2011: Had the Herb Adams party from Maple Shade, NJ on the boat today. Oh what a s l o w morning. We read balls of bait from the inlet to the pier. We trolled and trolled and trolled through these massive piles without a touch. Finally about 2 o'clock one of the spoons go off and we have a fish on. From the bend in the custom stick it looked to be a good one. Kenny takes the rod and it's taking drag. Oh no it spit the hook and gone. Back to trolling and there it goes again, same pole. Drew gets on it and in comes our first keeper. Bait still there everything looks good. Our mates Nick and Mike see some birds working and we make the turn towards them. We go right though where they were and we hear: One on, Two on, Three on. This would have made our day but if your reading this page you know what happened. One spit, two spit. How do they do this with those big *** trebles, Oh well. We still have one and Bob works it like the pro he is and gets it in. Another beauty. Alright back to work. This time a single and our man Herb muscles it into the cockpit. Ok one more so Ken could land one and the bass gods were with us. Bam, fish on and Ken finished the day with another trophy bass. Pictures of the last 2 days are posted in Our Pictures gallery. Until next weekend, See Ya. Bass are here come and get em.
May 21,2011: First trip of the year . We Left the marina early in fog. Headed up the beach and dropped the lines about 5 miles from the inlet. On board were Ed and his son, Jimmy, Chris, and Tom. The ambassador of the Skipjack as we all know him as Pop was also ready for a bass. Fishing was slow until about 2 hrs in when we dropped our first one on an umbrella. Then after about a half hour from the cockpit we hears Fish On. Ed Jr. took the pole and landed a 21 pounder. Not 10 minutes later Ed Sr.'s turn and it was another nice size bass. It slowed down and we did manage another two keepers for a shortened day. Total was 2 fish over 20 lbs and 2 over 30 lbs. Photos are posted in Our Pictures.
