Whitehall Resevoir, Hopkinton MA. Fishing Report

5 Rating based on 6 Reviews

I'm Back (at Whitehall)!

So, apparently there are pluses and minuses of getting a job working the hunting/fishing section of Dick's Sporting Goods. On the one hand, I get to talk about hunting and fishing all the time, which is nice. I also get to set up tons of parents and kids with their first fishing set ups, which is great. On the other hand, I don't have as much time to fish as I used to. Damn being a responsible productive adult ;p. Anyway, I was able to get some time in on Whitehall yesterday. Tried to shore fish in the morning (a waste of time) and brought the Kayak down in the afternoon. Not much action, but the one fish I did catch was a Monster. Probably my nicest MA bass so far. Quite a challenge on 8 pound test, which was gathering weeds as the fish blitzed around. Finally managed to haul it over the side after it tired out.

  • Fish Length (Avg): 20 inches
  • Fish Length (Max): 20 inches
  • Fish Weight (Avg): 3 lbs. 6 oz.
  • Fish Weight (Max): 3 lbs. 6 oz.
  • Bait Type: Worm Check Prices
  • Bait Details: I'm guessing when it comes to the size. I had stupidly left my scale and measuring board in the Jeep. I actually did try a variety of lures here, looking for Bass and big Pickerel. Once again though, it was the power worm that produced.
  • Location Details: I floated around the northern end of the reservoir for awhile till it got dark, then I focused my efforts on the weedy area near the boat ramp. There is actually a some nice structure there, including fallen logs, sparse lily pads (this time of year), and a rock or two.
