Split Rock 07/26/2008
Started out way in the back past the islands around 6:00 or 6:15. I hooked into the Smallmouth around 6:45 on a small gold colored spinner. It was 1lb. 10oz. My buddy caught a nice Largemouth (3lbs. 8oz.) on a watermelon senko at 7:20. Then we hit the school of little dinks. We probably caught about 5 between both of us casting over a reddish-colored weed bed. Finally, around 8:30 I finally hooked into my Largemouth of the day (pic with no shirt). I thought I had a monster on a double-blade spinner with a white skirt. I was so excited when I saw him, that after I took the picture, I wanted to get him back in the water as soon as possible, I just threw him back in without weighing him. The scale was in my buddy's pocket the whole time but I just wanted to get the fish back in water. All in all, we had a productive day, it was the heat beating on us the whole 45 minute hike back to the car that made me second guess if it was worth it. After getting out of the heat, I came to my senses and it was worth it!
