Comment: The upper Delaware River (Port Jervis and above) has some of the best wild trout fishing east of the Mississippi. Brown, Rainbow, and Brook trout are abundant, and both native and stocked trout are available in this section of the river. The river is shallow in this area making it perfect for the fly fisherman. Largemouth Bass are in few numbers in the non-tide section of the Delaware River. They can be caught in backwaters, weed beds, or stream mouths in the river. In the tidal waters of the Delaware, the largemouth is the dominant fish. Smallmouth bass are the most dominant fish on the Delaware River.
