Clinton , Canistear , Oak Ridge Reservoirs ?

I understood. I along with bassassin feel strongly about preservation. It sucks in jerz cuz u got mexicans and russians fishing all the lakes out. No offense to Mexicans/russians that dont do that. This is what happens i have seen it first hand. Sarcasm doesnt translate digitally that well. But with said respect the water no matter what state u are in and that goes for everyone.

Agreed! Its really a shame seeing how disrespectful other anglers are not only with the fish but also the environment. I'm always picking up trash. Which is why I always try to find some fishing holes way out in the woods that isn't easy to get to.

Can't wait to get a boat tho. Or a kayak. Canoe... Anything to get off the shore

Yea I enjoy going down to south jersey. My brother in law lives near cherry hill. I like assunpink lake down that way. Guaranteed to have plenty of bites down that way. I'm making my rounds here in north jersey. Caught some decent LM in ramapo lake. Still waiting to hook into something picture worthy at oradell reservoir

Assunpink is nice, but the two smaller lakes in the same WMA (Stone Tavern & Rising Sun) have different flavors from the big lake and sometimes are easier to figure out. Mercer Lake isn't far from there either and has nice sized fish in it as well.

yea, when i said assunpink, i meant the whole site down there, including the two other lakes. ive pulled some big stuff out of there, but have only fished from the shore. would love to put a boat out there.[/quote]

i went to oradell today after it rained... got a key to the gates. got to the water around 330. Landed only one fish, a small LM on a topwater. However, i did see the largest carp i've ever laid my eyes on.

They keep the lakes under lock & key in north Jersey? We moved out of Passaic when I was 10, but I didn't know it was that bad.

After 9/11, they fenced in and locked up any of the reservoirs under united water's watch.
So you send in an application for a key to designated gates and youre supposed to fish in certain areas only. Basis a hassle but because of that, it keeps the number of those fishing low.

Not a bad idea. They should do a statewide "premium select license" and link it to an EZPass unit for the prime fishing spots, only those who buy the permit get to fish or put in a boat. Everything else is pay to play...
