...
swlt031 Just because I will fish anywhere, anytime, for any reason. My family and I were on vacation in Aruba. I got to talking with a local guy at a restaurant about fishing and he invited me to go fishing with him at one of his favorite spots. Turned out that the guy owns the restaurant. Anyway, we went and cought a few dozen fish from the cliffs on the north side of the island. We used hand lines as 1) it's just the way they do it, and 2) not being sure of what fishing opportunities would present themselves, I had not packed any of my own gear for the trip.
What we caught were called "Black Druggers". The most interesting about them to me was that they are almost identical to the Tautog that we catch here in NJ with the same firm white flesh and the same wonderfully mild delicious flavor. Needless to say they did turn up at the restaurant that night as a catch of the chef's special. I was invited to dine gratis, which I did.
